Medea The Foreigner was performed at the Bridewell Theatre in the end of August and beginning of September 2010. The English adaptation started in July and it counted with the effort of new people in the team. Just to name a few, we had the actor Pete Picton, the cellist Nina Plapp, the designer Ingrid Hu, the stage manager Beci Ryan, the photographer Siobhan Bradshaw, and many others who helped as ushers during the performances. The photographic exhibition Medea by Sofia Berberan was displayed during the run and it continued in the theatre for a few months after that. If you are in London, the last chance to see Sofia’s work is on Sunday 21st November. And Medea will now flap her wings hopefully to another country.

Medea is getting ready to take over the stage in London. More than 2 months after the end of the run in Lisbon, the project is now getting a new shape. There are new people involved in the work and many more changes to come. Watch this space!

And now Medea, The Foreigner is being adapted or re-adapted to London, the city where the project originated from. The production has been working in the UK since June and is now getting everything ready to enter August, so that the artists can start rehearsals. One of the greatest news is the support given by TOandFOR, an arts gallery in North London that has kindly offered free rehearsal space for the group. Founded by a young collective of artists, voluntarily run, their aim is to create the chance to see some brilliant things and to initiate an open platform for fresh and innovative artists. On Monday it will start the last week of rehearsals in Lisbon. The adaptation from Euripides’ tragedy is ready, and now the team is looking to finalise the work on technical aspects of the show. In these pictures actors and director are making the final modifications in the text.

A segunda-feira dará início à última semana de ensaios em Lisboa. A adaptação a partir da tragédia escrita por Eurípides está concluída, e agora a equipa se prepara para concluir o trabalho com a parte técnica do espectáculo. Nestas fotografias actores e directora estão a fazer as modificações finais no texto.

Carolina Matos is the cello player who was invited to join the project. She will be responsible for the live music played during the stage performances. The rehearsals with Carolina started during the week of the 03/06/2010 at the CCB (Centro Cultural de Belém), in Lisbon.

Carolina Matos, violoncelista que foi convidada para fazer parte do projecto, será resposável pela música que será tocada ao vivo durante o espectáculo. Os ensaios com Carolina iniciaram na semana do dia 03/06/2010 no CCB (Centro Cultural de Belém), em Lisboa.

José Manuel Castanheira in London/em Londres

In March the project received in London the important visit from the set designer José Manuel Castanheira. In this photo the director Patrícia Carreira and Mr. Castanheira are at the Bridewell Theatre, where the show Medea, the Foreigner will be performed in September 2010.

Em Março o projecto recebeu em Londres a visita ilustre do cenógrafo José Manuel Castanheira. Nesta foto a directora Patrícia Carreira e o Sr. Castanheira se encontram no Bridewell Theatre, onde o espectáculo Medeia, a Estrangeira será apresentado em Setembro de 2010.
